108 Years of Italian Style, Speed, and Consistency: A Summer's End Tribute

One of the many milestones that we enjoyed celebrating over this last year here at Jim Butler is the 108th anniversary of the brand we so much love to represent. Peeling back the pages of history, one early memory was the design of the Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica, on June 24, 1910. The “Corsa” version of this car immediately achieved excellent results in various competitions, and even today, this massively competitive and lavish spirit lives on with special limited edition colors of the Nurburgring Edition Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio “NRINGS”. Both of these extraordinary cars are limited to just 108 makes of each model, to appropriately mark this legendary brand.

In addition to the usually-fantastic characteristics of the Quadrifoglio versions, these special releases have full specs equipment, and a dedicated “Welcome Kit”. The absolute most powerful Alfa Romeo engine available in existence for road use today is the 380 kw, 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, which has been adopted on the Giulia and Stelvio. It is no coincidence at all that the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the fastest SUV in the world, holding down the first position in the category on the Nurburgring circuit. This is the famed and tricky-to-maneuver track where Alfa Romeo has written numerous pages of its long history. The Stelvio gloriously put to use its gusto in the power department to cover the Nordschleife in just seven minutes, and 51.7 seconds.

To help celebrate this very special occasion, the C37 Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team showcar will be at the “La Macchina del Tempo” to represent the prowess and success in fine engineering that helps keep the brand in its coveted spot worldwide. To recreate the awesome and atmosphere, there will not only be the charming C37, but also the original overalls worn by the official drivers of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team, Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc, autographed by the drivers themselves. Another honor that we've had the pleasure of receiving lately is the “Compasso d'Oro ADI”, which is the most authoritative global design prize there is!

The prestigious award will be exhibited at the Museo Storico, a locale that evokes well the perfect balance of heritage, speed, and beauty that make the brand the highest expression of Italian style there is in the automotive world. Many of the customers we talk to that walk in sight unseen to our St Louis showroom are very impressed with the simplicity of our brand. We have evolved through the years in a form that has absolutely kept up with the latest in technology advances, but has always been known to evoke charm with design cues that create comfort, not gaudy attention. Henry Ford himself lamented that “When I see an Alfa Romeo go by, I tip my hat”, and after 108 years of exciting memories, we couldn't have figured out a better bridge to fall: come visit us here at the showroom soon, to see how exciting the addition of an Alfa would be to your pack!
